A Lansdale man with two prior shoplifting convictions has been charged with shoplifting for his third offense, which authorities say involved shoplifting from Target.
Aymel Mohammad, 40, of the 100 block of Penn Street, was also charged with receiving stolen property and numerous drug offenses, including possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana, according to Montgomery Township Police Department charging documents .
On Dec. 6 at 4:19 p.m., police responded to Target at 125 Witchwood Drive for a report of shoplifting in progress, police said. Asset protection told police that Mohammad passed all the stops without paying for $714 worth of merchandise, and fled the store to the Giant Food Store at 1201 Knapp Road, police said.
Officers responded to the convenience store and contacted Mohammad as he left the store. Police said asset protection identified him as the alleged thief and he was taken into custody, police said.
A search for Mohammad turned up a marijuana grinder with residue and the stolen property, police said. A search of Mohammad’s backpack found a package containing suspected marijuana and two burned ends of a blunt, police said.
According to court records, Mohammad was convicted of shoplifting in July 2019 and again in July 2022.
Mohammad is free on $10,000 unsecured bail and has a preliminary hearing on Dec. 17 at 12:15 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy, according to court records.
All suspects and accused persons are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
